Marlin H. Mayland
November 9, 1937 - February 8, 2011Marlin H. Mayland, age 73, of Forest City, died Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at his home in Forest City.
On November 9, 1937, Marlin was the first born of Henry and Clara (Giesking) Mayland on the family farm in Kossuth County. He graduated from Titonka School in 1955 and married Norma Jean (Stauffer) on January 11, 1958. They had two daughters.
They made their living farming and working for Winnebago Industries until they retired in 2008. Marlin took yearly fishing trips with his family to Canada and along the East Coast. He also loved deer and elk hunting, gardening with his wife and spending time with family and close friends. A hard worker willing to lend a hand to anyone, Marlin was a friend to everyone he met.
Marlin is survived by his wife, Jean; their daughter, Patsy, and her husband, Mike Ackerman, and their daughters, Collette, and her husband, Brian Andreasen, (Lillian & William), and Shelby, and her husband, Dana, of Nevada, Iowa; their daughter, Deb, and her husband, Greg Poyzer, and their son, Christian, of Bloomington, Minnesota. Marlin is also survived by his mother, Clara Mayland, of Titonka, Iowa; a sister, Verlene Benck; and his brothers, Rich Mayland, Eddie Mayland, Bill Mayland, Jim Mayland and Henry Mayland. Marlin was preceded in death by his father, Hank Mayland.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 11, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Forest City. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 10, 2011, also at the First Baptist Church in Forest City.
A private family inurnment service will be held in the spring.
