Lucille Williams
(February 11, 1927 - June 7, 2010)

Lucille Williams, 83 years young, passed away after her long struggle with pulmonary fibrosis ended peacefully, with her loving family by her side, on June 7, 2010, at her daughter Sharon “Pete” Determan’s home in Lake Mills, Iowa.

Lucille (Borchelt) Williams was born on February 11, 1927, to Walter and Mae (Ruleman) Borchelt in Batesville, Indiana. She was a true pioneer moving out West to pursue nurse anesthetist training after obtaining her nursing license in 1947, and she eventually moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where she met her future husband of 42 years, W.E. Gene Williams.

Lucille pursued a variety of interests throughout her life, including square dancing, traveling, sewing, and quilt making, as well as caring for her two children and enjoying her grandchildren. She was a member of the Mormon Church where she became involved in volunteer work, making quilts for the Navaho people, and eventually having an honorary name bestowed on her for her generosity toward the tribal members. She was a member of the Clinton Eagles Women’s Auxiliary.

Lucille will be greatly missed by her friends and family members. They include her sister, Betty Koester, and two brothers, Dan Borchelt and Alvin (Marge) Borchelt, all of Indiana; two daughters, Sharon “Pete” (Edward) Determan of Lake Mills, IA, and Susan (Allan) Williams-Judge of Seattle, WA; two grandchildren, Katelyn and Shamus Judge; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two “granddogs” Malcolm and MacDoogle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mae Borchelt; husband, Gene Williams; and a brother, William “Will” Borchelt.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Clinton, Iowa, where Lucille was a longtime resident.

Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association.
