Alfred Steenhard
(September 17, 1929 - April 14, 2010)Alfred Steenhard, age 80, of Buffalo Center, Iowa, passed away at United Hospital District in Blue Earth, Minnesota, Wednesday April 14, 2010.
Alfred James Steenhard was born September 17, 1929, in Lakota, Iowa, the son of Dick and Kate (Spear) Steenhard. He attended Lakota Schools. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On January 15, 1949, he married Shirley Steinberg at the Methodist church in Buffalo Center, Iowa. They lived in: Lakota, Iowa; Thompson, Iowa; Rapid City, South Dakota; and Buffalo Center, Iowa. They had four children: Douglas, Harlan, Donna and Roy Allen, who died in infancy.
Over the years, Al was a farmer, a welder, a Winnebago foreman; operated a tarp and canvas business; and was an apartment manager in Rapid City. Al enjoyed local fishing, blue grass festivals, morning coffee with friends, traveling, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
He is survived by: wife Shirley of Buffalo Center, IA; children: Douglas (Deb) of Kenyon, MN; Harlan (Marcia) of Rochester, MN; Donna (Dave) Stine of Davisburg, Michigan; eight grandchildren: Dan (Christy) Stine; Laura (Eric) Barrett; Mike (Nicole) Stine; Melissa (Ben) Bauer; Katie (Tobin) Hempel; Cameron Steenhard; Lucas Steenhard; and James (Sarah) Stine; six great-grandchildren: Ethan and Sadie Stine; Lilly and Mika Stine; and Jack and Owen Bauer.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, father, mother, and an infant brother.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakota, IA, with Rev. Marino Melsted officiating. Burial will follow the luncheon at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center, IA.
Friends and family are welcome to attend his visitation on Friday from 5:00 to7:00 PM at Winter Funeral Home, 414 First St. NW, Buffalo Center and also 1 hour before the service at the church in Lakota.
