Surrounded by those who loved her in life, death came and touched a good wife, mother, and Christian neighbor, Sunday morning, December 22nd, when Mrs. Christian Steffensen, departed this life. Deceased was born at Langlund, Denmark, December 28, 1852. She came to America in 1873 and was united in marriage to Christian Steffensen in 1880. At the age of 22 she was converted and was up to her death an active and beloved member of the Norwegian and Danish Methodist church. Since 1883 the family has made Forest City their home. She leaves, besides her husband, two sons and two daughters. Sons Elmer and Leslie, daughters Mabel and Ella. Three sisters, Mrs. Christiansen of Wanda, Minnesota, Mrs. J. P. Anderson, Forest City, and a sister in Denmark; also a brother in Racine, Wisconsin.

The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, December 24th from the church, by Rev. Anderson, when a great number of her friends were present to pay their last respects to this good woman, and the profusion of beautiful flowers bespoke the love and esteem for the departed.
