Steffensen Obituary

Mrs. Ludvig Steffensen was born at Schleswig-Holstein, Denmark, May 4, 1869 and died at her home in Forest City, October 31, 1937 at the age of 69 years, 5 months, and 27 days. Helena Christensen came to America and this vicinity about July 4, 1894 at the age of 26. She made her home with her half-brother, N. P. Bayers until her marriage to Ludvig Steffensen, March 7, 1896. They lived in Ellington and Forest Township on farms until 1920 when they moved into their present home. Mr. and Mrs. Steffensen joined the Scandinavian Methodist Church April 26, 1906. She took an active part in all church work until her illness. She was in very poor health for many years and spent the last four years in a wheel chair. She leaves to mourn her departure; her husband, two daughters, Carrie, Mrs. Russell E. Petersen, and Marie, Mrs. Floyd W. Peterson of Berkley; two sons, Harry N. of Forest City, and Authur C. Joice, and twelve grandchildren.

Scanlon, Crystal Lake; Mrs. Sam Skogaard, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meinicke, Mrs. and Mrs. Emil Jeska, Clear Lake; Mrs. and Mrs. A. M. Roesdahl. Mr. and Mrs. Magnus Anderson, Garner; Mrs. Erdahl, Rake; Mr. and Mrs Shay, Mrs. Mabel Mattison, Thompson; Mrs. Anton Clark, Mrs. Kenneth Peterson, Mrs. and Mrs. I. B. Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meinicke of Ventura.

Funeral services were Tuesday afternoon, Nov 2nd, at the family home on West J street at 1:30 o'clock, and then at 2:00 o'clock at the Scandinavian Methodist Church, the Rev C. H. Pettersen in charge, interment was at Oakland Cemetery.
