Dr. Lawson Dies at 41

Dr. Douglas Lawson, 41, Fort Dodge, radiologist and a graduate of Parsons College, died early today at a Rochester, Minn., hospital. He had suffered a stroke Monday and was transferred to the Mayo Clinic Wednesday night.

Funeral arrangements are pending. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lawson, Council Bluffs, are both natives of Fairfield. Local relatives include his grandmother, Mrs. C. W. Wade; two aunts, Faye Lawson and Nina Tucker; and an uncle, Roy Simpson.

Dr. Lawson was born May 3, 1932 in Council Bluffs. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and received his degree at Parsons in 1954. He was a football letterman at Parsons.

After graduating from the University of Iowa School of Medicine in 1956, he served in the U. S. Army and later the Iowa National Guard. He was a radiologist at Bethesda General Hospital in Fort Dodge.

Dr. Lawson was married to Gayle Maddison Aug. 9, 1958. Surviving are his widow and three children: Linda, 13; Diane, 11,and Mathew, 9. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Jerry Lawson, Phoenix, Ariz.

Dr. Lawson was a member of the Fort Dodge Board of Education and numerous professional organizations. The family home is at 1734 N. 11th St., Fort Dodge.
