C. H. DUNSMOOR, RETIRED RAILWAY EMPLOYE, IS DEAD

C. H. Dunsmoor, 83 years old, died at his home, 1613 south Twelfth Street, Sunday of complications that followed a hip fracture suffered seven weeks ago.

Mr. Dunsmoor, a retired railroad man, had been a resident of Fort Dodge for many years. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and four sons. The daughter is Mrs. Forrest Gage of Des Moines, the sons Theodore T., of Mitchell, S.D., C. C. Dunsmoor of Marshalltown and D. D. and E.D. W. Dunsmoor of Fort Dodge, an only sister, Mrs. Lester Hines of Strawberry Point, Iowa, 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. Another daughter, Mrs. Claude M. Smith, died two years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Dunsmoor celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary July 4.

Mr. Dunsmoor was born in Lunnenberg, Mass., Sept 13, 1851. He entered the employ of the Illinois Central at Waterloo in 1882, and became an engineer three years later. He was employed on the Sioux Falls and Sioux City branches of the system during their construction, moving to Fort Dodge from Waterloo. He retired from the railroad in 1913 after 31 years of active service, receiving a pension and a gold medal. An injury forced his retirement.

Interested in politics and current events, Mr. Dunsmoor read extensively until his illness became critical. His reading included not only the magazines and papers that through which he followed the happenings of the day but the Bible and history. He was for many years a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Funeral services will be held at the Laufersweiler funeral home at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
