DEATH NOTICE:

BOSWELL, Jackie (Mrs. Johnnie), age 80 of West Des Moines, Iowa and formerly of Leon, died Monday, December 8, 2008 at Kavanagh Hospice House in West Des Moines. Services are pending through Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Survivors include daughter Stacie Smith of West Des Moines.

Obituary

Jacquelene Rita Boswell, the daughter of Clarence and Pearl [Gibbs] Hodges, was born on August 2, 1928 in Des Moines, Iowa and left this earth on December 8, 2008 at the Kavanagh House in West Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 80.

She was united in marriage on June 8, 1947 to John Albert Boswell, and they made their home in Leon, Iowa until 1976 at which time they moved to West Des Moines. To this union was born one daughter, Stacie.

Jackie was a secretary at the Leon Elementary School for a number of years. She then worked as a secretary at Iowa Methodist Medical Center from 1976 until her retirement in 1998. Along with her husband, she was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeye football fan, attending many bowl games dating back to 1956. She also enjoyed golfing, traveling and entertaining friends.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by her daughter, Stacie Smith and husband Mark of West Des Moines, brother Bob Hodges and wife Judy of Cedar Rapids, grandson Tyler Cooper and wife Tara of Marshalltown, step-grandsons Abe Smith and wife Stormy of Pleasant Hill, and Ben and David Smith of West Des Moines.
