The Corydon Times gives the following notice of the death of Mrs. Barker, mother of O. J. Barker of Humeston: Mrs. Benjamin Barker died at the residence of her son, Allen Barker, on Wednesday morning. Mrs. Barker has been very ill for some time and the only wonder is that she lasted this long. She was 74 years of age and herself and husband were the second settlers in Wayne county. Mrs. Barker was married in 1844 in Henry county, Iowa, to Benjamin Barker who died a few years ago. They removed to Wayne county in March 1847. She was the mother of nine children, six of which are still living and most of them were at her bedside. She will be buried today, beside her husband in the Corydon graveyard.
