Obituary

Mrs. J. W. Walker and sons were called last week to Benton township by the death of her father-in-law. We take the following obituary from the Corydon Times: Mr. Saunders Walker died at his home in Benton township on Sunday night last, about 11 o'clock, supposedly from another paraletic stroke. Something over a year ago Mr. Walker was stricken with paralysis and has not been able to be around but little since. For the last two weeks he had not been feeling well but was able to be around on Sunday, going to bed as usual. About 11 o'clock his daughter who sleeps in an adjoining room, heard him turn over and groan. She went to him immediately, but he was dead in a little while. Mr. Walker was one of Wayne county's oldest and very best citizens, and will be greatly missed in the neighborhood. Funeral services were conducted at his residence by Rev. Newall on Tuesday at 11 a.m. His remains, followed by a large number of neighbors and friends, were deposited in the Corydon cemetery.
