Obituary

Elizabeth Campbell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell was born Sept. 28, 1888 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and passed away at her home in Humeston, July 4, 1921, aged 32 years, 10 months and 7 days. She came to America with her mother at the age of 8 years and was united in marriage to Mr. Clay Pryor June 1st, 1908. Mrs. Pryor was a member of the Presbyterian church from early girlhood. She greatly appreciated the church and regretted that circumstances had deprived her of regularly engaging in its activities of service and worship as she so much desired: Yet her Christian spirit and bearing revealed how effective had been her early church training. One could not be long in her presence without being impressed by her true Christian spirit. She heartily appreciated the kindly ministrations of relatives and friends during her illness, and never tired of giving them praise. Far from fretting or rebelling at her continued ill-health. She repeatedly expressed herself as reconciled to God's will. It is not surprising that she had no enemies. If there had been such, her very spirits breathed forgiveness: her life was a gospel of cheerfulness and charity to all. And in going, she leaves every one her friend. She knew the "Way", and went with untroubled heart.

The near relatives who survive and were present at the fumeral, are her husband, Clay Pryor; her mother, Mrs. Isabella House; Mr. Pryor's father, W. B. Pryor; three cousins, Mrs. Cotterell; David and Elax Ironside; and Mr. Pryor's three sisters, Mrs. H. Porter, Mrs. J. A. Poss and Mrs. E. Reynolds.

"A loved one has gone from among us. On earth we shall meet her no more. She has gone to her home in Heaven. And all her troubles are o'er."

The funeral Wednesday, July 6th, was largely attended, was held in the Christian church: a quartette from that congregation with Mrs. Gardner as pianist furnished appropriate music; the sermon was by Rev. T. R. Gray, pastor of the Congregational church. Burial in the Garden Grove cemetery.
