Obituary

Carl Ferdinand Culmsee was born April 8, 1876 in Stavanger Norway and died at his home in Humeston, Iowa, early Tuesday, a.m., March 1st, 1921, aged about 45 years.

He came to America when a lad of 14, and lived in Decorah, Iowa until grown to manhood.

On April 17, 1901 he was united in marriage with Miss Ruth Ford, and located in Humeston nearly 20 years ago. The children are Emma Ruth, Carol Leslie, Lucile Margaret, Anna Louise. These precious children, his dear wife, a sister, Mrs. Geo. Colbertson of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and a brother Alfred of Nada, Utah, survive him.

Dr. Culmsee graduated from the Keokuk Dental College in 1908.

He was a member of two lodges - the Masonic and Odd Fellows.

Dr. Culmsee professed religion in youth, and was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Decorah, and therefore had been long a member of that church.

Thus is recorded in brief the passing of one who will be missed, and to whom we felt naturally drawn in love and sympathy for his sufferings, and now a keen regret for his loss.

Funeral services at the Congregational church Thursday March 3rd, participated in by the pastor and the Order of Odd Fellows. The music of a high order was rendered by a quartet and was most helpful. The large crowd of people, the out of town attendants, the beautiful floral offerings, all attested the honor and affection in which the deceased was held. Burial was in charge of the Masons.
