OBITUARY

Sarah K. Lucas was born in Green Co., Pa., May 18, 1830, died April 29, 1897.

She married Allen Abel November 2, 1851. To them were born seven children, five boys and two girls, all of whom are living. They came to Wayne Co., Ia., in April 1864. Aunt Sally, as she was called by all her neighbors, died very suddenly Friday morning, being sick only a few hours and passed away so easily, just as though going to sleep, while sitting in her chair. She was a devoted wife and mother, and her children, though some of them far away seemed to be everpresent in her mind, and their home coming was always a source of great pleasure to her. Four of her children were present at her funeral, but Mrs. Cazad, of Kansas, Mrs. Ellis, of Ohio, H. Henry, of Washington, were not able to get here. She had been a Methodist for a great many years, and leaves three brothers who are Methodist ministers. Thomas Lucas, D. D., of Chicago, whom she had not seen for thirty-five years, came and visited her last summer.

Services were held at the residence Saturday morning, after which she was laid to rest in the Kirby cemetery.
