The following obituary was read at the funeral services by the minister:

The death of Mrs. Hattie A. Buck takes from our community another citizen who has been much loved. The passing came at three o'clock last Wednesday afternoon. Although her death was not unexpected, it has brought sorrow to many hearts, and, as the word passed from one to another that she was gone, it was with a distinct sense of loss. A life of thirty-eight years among our people had given her a wide circle of friends, and a place to be highly esteemed among all who knew her.

Miss Hattie A. Hasbrouck was born January 12, 1853, at Highland, New York, where she spent her girlhood years. She was married December 12, 1868, to W. H. Buck. After three years in Illinois, and three more years in New York, the family moved to Richman township, and she has resided here ever since.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Buck is survived by one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Carrie Feeter and Angelo Hasbrouck of Highland, New York, and J. J. Hasbrouck of Humeston.

The children and grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Buck all reside in this vicinity, the children being Mrs. Lizzie Williams, Mrs. Hattie Taylor, Mrs. Jennie McRae, and Angelo Buck. There are fourteen grandchildren.

Soon after coming here Mrs. Buck became a member of the Presbyterian church, and when the Congregational church was organized she was one of the charter members.

Not alone as an attendant of the church services and Sunday school, but also as a worker in the Woman's Guild, she revealed her devotion the church.

She was also a charter member of the Eastern Star and a member of the P. E. O. society.
