SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. HATTIE THOMAS

Funeral services for Hattie M. Thomas, were held Tuesday, May 23, at the Antioch church, Rev. Loren E. Lair, of Corydon, officiated.

Obituary

Hattie M. Snyder, daughter of Jerry and Rose J. Snyder, was born Jan. 2, 1880, near Seymour, Iowa, and departed this life May 21, 1939, at Promise City, at the age of 59 years, 4 months and 19 days, having spent her entire life in Wayne county.

On February 22, 1908, she was united in marriage to William H. Thomas, who preceded her in death Jan. 17, 1927.

To this union three sons were born, J. C. and Charles W., of Promise City, Iowa and Robert N. at the home near Seymour, Iowa. They had two daughters-in-law, one grandson William Clark Thomas, who spent a great deal of his vacation with his grandmother, one sister, Mrs. Minnie Darrah of Seymour, other relatives and a host of friends mourn her passing. A sister, Mrs. Maggie Carey, preceded her in death Aug. 6, 1937.

Mrs. Thomas united with the Christian church in early life, and remained steadfast in her faith.

She had been in poor health for several months and bore her suffering with patience. Being tenderly cared for the past five weeks in the home of her son, J. C. by her children, with the assistance of friends and neighbors.

She was a kind, loving wife and mother, with unusual patience and understanding, a good true friend and neighbor who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
