OBITUARY

Bazel D. Cook was born in Pulaski county, Ky., November 8, 1864 and died Oct. 8, 1935 at the age of 70 years and 11 months. He was married to Libbie Harris in 1904. He came to Iowa in 1898 and for 27 years lived in Seymour. The greater part of this time was spent in the mining business. He was a familiar figure on the streets of our town and will be greatly missed by his associates. He united with the Methodist Church in 1899 and was a member of that institution at the time of his death.

Besides his wife he leaves three sisters: Mrs. Sarah Sears of Wakee, Okla., Mrs. Mary Hadrick of Yale Okla., and Mrs. Lizzie Carr of Williamsburg, Ky. He has one step-son, Zeb Harris of Seymour.

He was a good citizen, a devoted husband, kind hearted, always thinking of the comfort of his companion, never happier than when he could aid the unfortunate as scores can testify.

Death came as the result of an accident while he was engaged at work in the Violet Valley coal mine of which he was part owner.

The funeral services were held from the home Thursday afternoon and were in charge of the Rev. R. C. Buchanan of the Methodist Church. Burial was in the Southlawn cemetery.
