LEECH, Mildred May [Russell], 87, of Humeston, Iowa, died January 31, 2008 at Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa. Funeral services were held February 4 at First Baptist Church in Humeston with Pastor Art Anderson officiating, and a Rebekah Service by Miawa Rebekah Lodge #146 of Humeston. Burial was in the Humeston Cemetery. Arrangements were through Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon.

MILDRED LEECH ... Mildred May [Russell] Leech passed away and went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2008 at Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa. Mildred was born January 13, 1921 in Trenton, Missouri to Joseph Allen Russell and Cora May [Lawrence] Russell. She attended Princeton High School in Princeton, Missouri.

On February 11, 1940 she was married to Lester E. Leech of Humeston, Iowa. In this union there were two children, Marcia Usher of Humeston and Lester Leech of Des Moines, Iowa.

She worked 15 years at Gesham Ellis Cafe and 40 years at Jimmy's Hi-way Cafe, both at Humeston. She was active in First Baptist Church Women's Circle, the American Legion Auxiliary, Rebekah Lodge, 204 Club, and Royal Neighbors.

She attended Bible Study at First Baptist Church of Humeston and had been a member there since 1940. Mildred's family and church were important to her.

Mildred is survived by her daughter Marcia Usher and friends Craig Gibbs of Humeston; her son Lester Leech and wife Darlene of Des Moines; grandchildren: Sherry (David) Lee of Des Moines, Brian Leech of Des Moines, Lisa Young of Colfax, Iowa, Phil (Jodi) Leech of Ankeny, Iowa, Tammy (Doug) Walls of Berwick, Iowa, and special friend Angie Brown and her family; great grandchildren: Andre Young, Mason Leech; Makari Lou Walls, and Ava Jo Leech; one brother, Harry (Marie) Russell of Hampton, Iowa; sisters Mary Lou Pilkington of Des Moines and Junita Reichert of North English, Iowa; along with many nieces and nephews; and her special pet, Tiny.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lester; her parents Joseph and Cora Russell; sisters Leota Anderson and Neva Rieman; brothers: Wade, George, Sherman, Junior, and Kelly Russell; and son-in-law James Usher.
