VELMA REEVES (Mercer) ... Velma Veneta Reeves, 90, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001 at Princeton Care Center.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 18 at Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Lineville, with Rev. Max Carmichael officiating. Burial was in Lowry Cemetery east of Mercer.

Mrs. Reeves, daughter of John and Arminta [McDaniel] McDougal, was born on a farm west of South Lineville, on Nov. 23, 1910. She was raised on a farm west of Lineville and attended Hickory School southwest of Lineville.

She married William Reeves on Nov. 1, 1942 in Princeton; he preceded her in death on April 9, 1976. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm east of Mercer, and after retiring in 1975, they moved to a small acreage south of Lineville. After Mr. Reeves' death she moved into Mercer, where she lived until entering Princeton Care Center in October 1994.

Mrs. Reeves is survived by her daughter, Shirley Jones (and husband, Clifford) of Mercer; three grandchildren, Cheryl Bardwell (and husband, Ray) of South Lineville, Sara VanHorn (and husband, Chad) of Lineville, and Richard Jones (and wife, Lisa) of Princeton two great granddaughters, Michelle and Danielle Bardwell; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Roy McDougal (and wife, Bertha), Steve McDougal (and wife, Mable), Carl McDougal and Glenn McDougal (and wife, Opal), and three sisters, Viola McKinney (and husband, Ulric), Ora Yingling (and husband, Ed) and Lola Brassfield (and husband, Lindsey).
