WILSON, HELEN, 87, of Des Moines, Iowa, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2011, at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Lineville, Iowa, with pastors Leroy Perkins and Max Carmichael officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville, Iowa.

HELEN WILSON ... Helen Wilson, daughter of Everett Leland and Mabel Eunice [Harris] Manchester, was born on a farm in Mercer County, Missouri, outside of Lineville, Iowa on February 17, 1924, and passed away on May 4, 2011, at the Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 87 years.

Helen was a 1942 graduate of Lineville High School. After graduation she worked at Morna's in Des Moines, Iowa. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Howard Curtis Wilson, on December 31, 1943, in Princeton, Missouri. She then traveled with Howard to Camp Campbell, Kentucky, while Howard was in the service. To this union three daughters were born, Sharon, Judy, and Debra.

Helen is survived by her husband, Howard, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; her daughters, Sharon Karns (and son-in-law, Steve) of Lineville, Iowa, Judy Wilson (and son-in-law, Steve) of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren, Sindi Day (and her husband, Tony), Shane Karns (and his fiancee, Sue), Carl Jones (and his companion, Keri), and Justin Jones (and his companion, Jennifer); five great grandchildren, Courtney Karns, Randy and Alex Jones, and Parker and Regan Day; her sister, Shirley Walter (and brother-in-law, Larry) of Missoula, Montana; a sister-in-law, Betty Easley, of Kansas City, Kansas; and by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Emily and Walter Wilson; her sister-in-law, Al Holmes and Litton Tye; and by a nephew, Walter Holmes.

Helen was a member of the Duncan-Smith American Legion Post #506 Auxiliary of Lineville, Iowa, and her hobbies and interests were reading, sewing, crocheting, and knitting.
