JERRY LEE NICKELL ... Jerry Lee Nickell, son of George Perry and Violet Chassie [McClain] Nickell, was born in Lineville, Iowa, on December 14, 1935, and left this world to be with Jesus on May 23, 2011, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 75 years.

Jerry worked for the Wayne County Road Department retiring after 38 years of employment. He also farmed for 20 years following the death of his father.

Jerry was a licensed pilot but would rather co-pilot for grandson Paul. He took his last plane ride just a few weeks ago with Paul. Whether he was fly fishing at Roaring River or in the Gulf of Mexico or with his friends at the Millerton Cafe', he was happy. He loved to travel and had been from Alaska to Mexico and made friends wherever he was. He always talked of his trip to Alaska. He was always talked of his trip to Alaska. He was always thankful for his friend, Tom Tuttle, who lead the way to Alaska. for the last 13 years, he and June spent winters in Texas. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 47 years, where he held every office. He also served as a council member and Mayor of Millerton, Iowa, for many years.

Jerry was united in marriage to June Ann Jensen on January 5, 1955, and to this union four children were born. June survives him of their home in Millerton, Iowa. He is also survived by his sons, Mike Nickell (and daughter-in-law, Sharon) of Allerton, Iowa, and Randy Nickell (and daughter-in-law, Wendy) of Russell, Iowa; his daughters, Barbara Clark (and son-in-law, Randy) of New York, Iowa, and Janet Horras (and son-in-law, Tom) of Indiana, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Paul, Joe, Michelle, and Lindsey Nickell, Erin, Jacob, and Joshua Clark, and Justin, Jeremy, and Andrew Gartin; great grandchildren, Cooper, Eliza, Clara, Drew, Drake, Isaiah, Noah, and Ava; 5 step-grandchildren, Auston, Alexas, Ashlynn, Ainslie, and Adrian Horras; 2 step, great-grandchildren, Aiden And Asher Horras; his Aunt Helen Gatrel of St. Joseph, Missouri; and by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many, many friends. His family was his greatest joy.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Deloris, granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth Clark, and great-granddaughter, Marie Christine Nickell.

"On the road of life, it's not where you go but who you are with that makes the difference". This is June's quote and Jerry tolerated it.
