Delbert Owen, son of Otha and Lillian Owen, was born October 6, 1907 in Casper, Wyo., and passed away March 28, 1965 in the Wayne County hospital at Corydon at the age of 57 years, 5 months and 22 days.

He and his brother, Leonard were reared by their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer (Mac) Owen in Wayne County. At an early age they were baptized into the Church of Christ at Confidence, Iowa.

Delbert was united in marriage to Gladys McMurry of Corydon May 21, 1928 and to this union were born four children, Ramona Lash of Midlothian, Ill., Neal Owen who preceded him in death, Shirley Hornocker of Missoula, Mont., and Larry Owen of Kansas City, Mo.

In addition to his son, he was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Surviving are his wife, the three remaining children; seven grandchildren, Gary and Kathy Lash, Karen, Kimberly and Lisa Hornocker, Michele and Michael Owen; a brother, Leonard Owen of Indianola, Iowa; a half brother, Harold Owen of Seattle, Wash, Two nephews and a host of relatives, friends and neighbors.

He spent his life in Wayne county, engaged in farming except for occasional returns to the west which he loved very much and the last few months of his life he was employed by the town of Allerton.

Funeral services were held from the Randolph Funeral home in Allerton on March 31 at 2 p.m. with Mr. LeRoy Lunsford officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Sapp and Mervin Halfhill. Pallbearers were Roy VanTorn, Weldon Stroud, Loren Mitchell, Glen Greenlee, Torcie Green and Nyle Caster. Flower girls were Wilda Sapp and Mildred Caster. Music was furnished by Mrs. Winnie Beavers. Concluding services were held in the Allerton cemetery.
