RICHMOND - Mary E. Rotenburger, 79, a lifelong resident of the Richmond and Riverside areas, died Monday at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond, with the Rev. L.J. Bergthold officiating. The rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Mrs. Rotenburger was born at Riverside, Dec. 14, 1894, the daughter of James and Anna Flory Kucera.
She married John Rotenburger, May 2, 1922, at Riverside.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Leonard of Mt. Pleasant, and Donald of Fairfield; four daughters, Mrs. Paul (Mratha) Hammen of Washington, Iowa, and Mrs. Charles (Viola) Slagle, Mrs. Joe (Rosella) Yomallow and Mrs. Oren (Grace) Bringman, all of Mapleton, GA.; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are six sisters, Mrs. Frank Libenguth of Riverside, Mrs. Dora Parker, Mrs. Bill Wengler, and Mrs. Roy Kron, all of Wellman, and Mrs. Pat Moberly and Mrs. Alice Decker, both of Washington, Iowa; and two brothers, Fred and Ed Kucera of Riverside.
An infant son and a brother died earlier.
