Walter E. Ledman, 74, died Monday afternoon, September 23, 1974 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, where he had been a patient three weeks.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond with Rev. L.J. Bergthold in charge. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pall bearers will be Tom Russell, William Reese, Keith Yoder, Wayne Duwa, Joe Chody and Kenneth Hochstedler.
A prayer service will be at Peterseim Funeral Home Wednesday evening at 7:30. A memorial fund has been established in his name for the Kalona Park.
Mr. Ledman was born May 27, 1900 a son of William and Nettie McIlree Ledman at Richmond. He married Lulu Saur October 20, 1926 at Richmond. He lived his entire life in the Kalona Community and was employed by Eclipse and Kalona Builders Lumber Companies for 38 years before his retirement in 1967. He graduated from Kalona High School and played on the Kalona Independent football team.
Survivors include his widow; son, Wayne Ledman of Alexandria, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Sam (Carolyn) Watkinson of Hills; and 11 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Ernest and Clarence (Johnny).

KALONA - Walter E. Ledman, 74, died Monday at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, where he was a patient for the past three weeks.
Funeral services are to be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond, the Rev. L.J. Bergthold officiating. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Peterseim Funeral Chapel in Kalona. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Memorial contributions will be used for the Kalona Park.
Mr. Ledman was born in Richmond, May 27, 1900, to William and Nettie McIlree Ledman. He graduated from Kalona High School and worked for 38 years for Eclipse Lumber Co., and Kalona Builders Supply. He retired in 1967.
He married Lulu Saur Oct. 20, 1926.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Sam (Carolyn) Watkinson of Hills; a son, Wayne of Alexandria, Minn.; and 11 grandchildren.
Two brothers died earlier.
