BRIGHTON - Edward Paul Ledger, 73, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday, sept. 20, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield after a lengthy illness. He had been a patient since Sept. 8.
Last rites will be Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with Father Louis Leonhardt officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Prayers for a Christian Wake will be held at the church at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, followed by K of C Rosary at 8 p.m.
Edward Paul Ledger was born Sept. 20, 1901, in Henry County, the son of Robert and Marie Huber Ledger, and lived his entire life in the Pleasant Plain Area.
He was married Feb 17, 1925, to Margaret Peck who died in 1945.
Ledger is survived by six sons, Lester and Ernest, both of Brighton; Donald, Fairfield; James, Washington; Virgil, Sac City; and Elmer, Minneapolis; also four daughters, Mrs. Maxine Hahn, Pleasant Plain; Mrs. Clarabelle Vittetow, Washington; Delores Sieren, Keota; and Mrs. Geraldine Hubler, Dysart.
Others include 49 grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother, William Ledger, Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Kessel, Richland, and Mrs. Emma Kurtz, Fairfield. He was preceded in death by one sister and four grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Eagles Lodge and Knights of Columbus.
Funeral Services Tuesday will be in charge of the Gould Funeral Home at Brighton. A memorial to the Cancer Fund has been established.
