Baker Dies Of Injuries

BRIGHTON - Injuries suffered while working at the Crane Co. in Washington has proven fatal to Dean Allen Baker, 18, Brighton.

He died at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the University Hospital in Iowa City where he had been a patient since his injury which took place Aug. 20. Reports said he was fatally injured when he became caught in a roller.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Brighton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dave Higdon officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Hook Cemetery.

The family will be at the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton this evening, Friday, where friends may call.

Dean Allen Baker was born Oct. 12, 1955, at Fairfield, the son of George V. and Edith Bates Baker. He graduated from the Washington High School in 1973, and was married Jan. 4, 1974, to Carla Rich, who survives.

In addition to his widow and parents, Baker is survived by two brothers, Robert E., Washington, and Leroy, LeClaire; three sisters, Mrs. Joyce Scheeler, Brighton; Mrs. Judy Wreckman, Lennox; and Karen Baker, Washington.

In addition, the following grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Baker, Packwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bates, Washington.
