Mrs. Vera McKenzie died Wednesday evening, February 1, 1967 at the Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 51 years, 10 months and 25 days after an illness of several months.
A daughter of John B. and Bertha Zager Strickler, she was born at Sharon Center on April 6, 1915. She was a graduate of the Kalona high school and attended the University of Iowa.
Vera was a long time employee at the Hesselschwerdt store and was employed at the Kalona Savings Bank until illness in July of 1966. She was a member of the Kalona Methodist Church and Rebekah lodge.
On October 30, 1949 she was married to C.J. McKenzie. He preceded her in death in October, 1961.
She is survived by three brothers: Lester, Iowa City, Forrest and Lovell, Kalona; and one sister, Mrs. Jack Guengerich of Kalona; alos several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Jack Guengerich home until 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at the Kalona Methodist church at 1:30 o'clock Saturday, February 4 with the Rev. Lowell Drake officiating. Arrangements are in charge of Peterseim Funeral Service. Interment will be made in the Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona.
