Mrs. Ed Beranek died this morning, February 10, 1966 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after an illness of several months at the age of 66 years, 2 months and 13 days.
Gertrude Kallaus Beranek was born November 27, 11899 in Washington County, the daughter of Ed and Julia Kallaus.
She was married to Ed Beranek on Decemeber 25, 1917. The couple farmed southwest of Kalona for many years and moved to Kalona when they retired from the farm.
She is survived by her husband, five sons, Arthur, Muscatine; Hubert, Riverside; Don, Davenport; Bob, Richmond and Richard, Iowa City; four brothers: Roy, Richmond; Glen, Iowa City; Mearle, Kalona; Charles, Davenport; two sisters: Mrs. Ed Prebyl, Mesa, Arizona; Mrs. Fred Klein, Iowa City; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kalona Methodist Church with the Rev. Lowell Drake officiating. Interment will be made in the Riverside Cemetery. Peterseim Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
