Cleste Shebek of Riverside dies

RIVERSIDE - Celeste Shebek, 79, died Sunday, April 9, 1985, at her home in Riverside.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Riverside, of which she was a member. The Rev. Rudolph Berndt will officiate. Burial will be at St. Vincent's Cemetery. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sorden Funeral Chapel in Riverside, where there will be rosary services at 3 and 8 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Shebek was born July 2, 1905, in Riverside, a daughter of Joseph W. and Magdalene Birrer Mellecker. She married Walter Shebek on Jan. 22, 1929, at St. Joseph's Church in Hills. He preceded her in death.

She was a housewife and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Pinochle Club.

Survivors include: four daughters, Mary Huffman of Riverside, Patricia Hamer of Downey, Gertrude Shebek of Washington, and Frances Weber of Sigourney; two sons, Edward of Riverside and Paul of Cedar Rapids; 33 grandchildren; 14 great grand-children; and four brothers, Joseph of Phoenix, Ariz., Leonard of Louisville, Colo., Willard of Oregon and John of Iowa City.
