Walter Shebek dies Sunday at Riverside

RIVERSIDE - Walter W. Shebek, 74, died at this home Sunday, August 5, 1979, after a long illness.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's of Assumption Church, with Rev. Thomas Mohr in charge. Burial will be in St. Vincent's Cemetery.

Visitation starts at 5 p.m. today at the Sorden Chapel in Riverside. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today and at 3 and 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Shebek was born Feb. 27, 1905, a son of John and Elizabeth Schnoebelen Shebek. He married Celeste Mellecker Jan. 22, 1929 at Hills. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Mary's Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Surviving are his wife, six children: Mary Huffman of Riverside, Patricia Hammer of Downey, Frances Weber of Sigourney, Edward of Riverside and Paul of Cedar Rapids; 33 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Geneva Schnoebelen of Riverside.

Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
