Vencil Vesely Passed Away Monday Evening

Vencil Vesely, son of John and Tressa Vesely, was born near Prague, Bohemia, on July 4, 1860 and passed from this life at the home of his son near Ainsworth on Monday, December 6, 1937 at 7:45 p. m.. He was 77 years, 5 months and 2 days of age at the time of his death.

Mr. Vesely came to the United States when he was only eight years old and settled with his family near Richmond. He spent 69 years of his life in this community. On May 16, 1883 he was united in marriage to Anna Spevacek at Washington, Iowa. Six children were born to this union all of whom survive their father. Mrs. Vesely passed away on December 16th, 1932, preceding her husband in death by five years.

In his childhood Mr. Vesely was baptised in the Catholic church in Bohemia.

He was a good father and neighbor and a hard worker. He will be missed in the community and his passing will bring sadness to all his family as well as his neighbors and friends.

The children who survive are: Mrs. Emma Machovec, of Iowa City; Mrs. Scott Stout of Lone Tree; William, of Ainsworth; Mrs. Lee Snider of New Hampton; James, of Ainsworth and Leo of Casey, Wyoming. There are 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one brother, John, of Iowa City and one sister, Mrs. Babara Pribyl of Barnston, Neb. who are also left to mourn his passing from this life.

Following a brief prayer service at the home, the funeral service was held Wednesday at the Richmond Methodist church with Rev. Stuart C. Peterson of Kalona in charge. The text used was John 14:1, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” Mrs. Joe Malichky and Mr. Adolph J. Votruba furnished the music, singing two songs: “Where We’ll Never Grow Old” and “Jesus Leads”. Mrs Votruba was at the piano. Burial was in the Richmond cemetery. Pallbearers were: Adrian Welte, Wm. Chapek, Van Vodicka and Arden Saforek.
