Mrs. Vancal Vesely Answers Summons Friday

Mrs. Anna Spevacek Vesely, 69, a resident of Washington county for more than 63 years, passed away at her country home four miles southeast of Richmond on Friday, December 16th. She has been failing in health for the last six months. She was born December 16, 1863 in Czecho-Slovaka and came to the United States with her parents to Richmond in 1869.

Anna Spevacek was married to Vancal Vesely in 1883, and the couple had farmed on the place since their marriage for over forty-nine years. She was a member of the American Auxiliary Unit of Riverside Post No. 257.

Surviving are her husband and six children, Mrs. Emma Machovec of Iowa City; Mrs. Scott Stoutt of Lone Tree; Mrs. Lee Snider of New Hampton; Will and James of Ainsworth and Leo. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Barbara Kos of Richmond, a brother, V. J. Spevacek of Washington and thirteen grandchildren of whom one preceded her in death six years ago.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the M.E church in Richmond with Rev. R E. Kerney in charge. Burial was made in the Protestant cemetery. Pall bearers were Ed Vesely, Forest Stoutt, Joe Vesely, John Hora, Herald Stoutt and Roy Vesely.
