Thomas Everett Schooley, 72, passed away at his home Saturday, February 16, 2013.Thomas was born September 19, 1940 in Brighton, Iowa and was raised by his grandmother, Catherine Fuller. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. and a member of the Beaverdale VFW. Thomas was a self employed businessman. He served as a deacon in the Lutheran Church for many years. Thomas enjoyed playing golf and reading.Thomas is survived by his children, Dr. Thomas Todd Schooley, Troy (Melissa) Schooley, Christine (Paul) Brenneman and Catherine (Dave) Smith; former daughter-in-law, Keely Kruse; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; former spouse, Janet Schooley; and a host of other extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vonnie; sisters, Janice Blades and Barbara Sample; father, Ray Schooley; aunt, Clara Alford; grandparents, Ralph and Catherine Fuller; and two great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Burial will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
