Opal Mercer died Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Halcyon House in Washington. Opal Kathleen (MIner) Mercer was born June 17, 1919, in Anamosa, the daughter of Algie and Marjorie (Livingston) Miner. She was united in marriage to Robert Mercer on Jul 1, 1947, in Clarence, MO. Survivors include her two children; Roger (Tana) of El Dorado Hills, CA., Phyllis (Mark) Casper of Kalona, five grandchildren; Adam, Lucas and Micah Casper, Paul (May) Mercer, and Jennifer (Jesse) Gomez, and seven great-grandchildren; Brandon and Nicole Mercer, Gruffydd Casper, Brooke Gomez, and Samantha, Savannah, and Ethan Gomez. Preceding Opal in death were her parents, her husband Robert in 2011, and four brothers and two sisters.
