Gladys R. Maines

WELLMAN - Gladys R. Maines, 81, of Wellman, former Fairfield and Libertyville resident, died Thursday, March 14, 1996, at her home, following a brief illness.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Powell Funeral Home in Wellman, with the Rev. Gene Carpenter and Beth Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Washington County Hospice.

Mrs. Maines was born March 25, 1914, in Daytonville, the daughter of Johnathon Robert and Katie Jane Kolosiek Perrin. She graduated from Wellman High School. On Dec. 18, 1939, she married Curtis Maines in Kalona. He died in December 1992. The lived in Drakesville, Libertyville and Fairfield before moving to Wellman in June 1988. She was a homemaker and a member of Wellman Baptist Church. Favorite pastimes were arts, crafts, cooking and gardening.

Surviving are a daughter, Glenda Pearson of Wellman; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Olive Miller of Wellman; and several nieces and nephews. Five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
