Death Takes Mattson, 83

Arthur Mattson, 83, who resided west of Four Corners, died suddenly Sunday noon upon arrival at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Barker officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at Brighton.

The son of Peter and Edla Pierson Mattson, he was born June 18, 1894 in Henderson County, Ill. On Feb. 24, 1923, he married Josephine Geschwender. She died on June 29, 1971.

Mattson lived in Jefferson County for 32 years and in Brighton for 10 years. He was a veteran of World War I.

He is survived by one daughter, Irene Hill, Overland Park, Kan.; and two sons, Paul Mattson, Lockridge; and Sidney Mattson, Blue Grass.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Stutzman and Mrs. Minnie Freeman, both of Fairfield; and one brother, John Mattson, Lockridge.
