Naomi B. Custer, 95, of Washington died Friday, June 30, 2000, at the McCreedy Home in Washington, following a brief illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Brett Best officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday, July 4, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the McCreedy Home.

Mrs. Custer was born March 26, 1905, in Washington to Grover Cleveland and Alice May (Baker) Hesseltine. On May 11, 1922, she married John Custer in Washington.

She attended country school in Washington County and worked for Duncan Clothing Store in Washington. In addition to being a homemaker, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Jolly Nine Club.

Mrs. Custer is survived by one sister, Opal Richards Maahs of Washington; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Joe, Jim and John Richards of Washington and Janet Shelman of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, in 1974; three brothers, Rolla, Floyd and Glen Hasseltine; and one sister, Hazel Hahn.
