Funeral services were held Friday at Halligan's Funeral Home in Davenport for Lan Custer of Davenport, 82, who died in Veteran's Hospital, Iowa City, Wednesday, August 14. He was born and reared in Washington and is survived by relatives here. Burial was in Rock Island, Ill.

Mr. Custer was born July 3, 1891, in Washington, a son of John P. and Jeanette Birney Custer.

He has served as a corporal in World War I enlisting April 29, 1918, where he served in the Saint-Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne offensives. He was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart and was discharged May 30, 1919.

Survivors include his widow, three daughters and several grandchildren; also four brothers: Dave of Canada, John, Ed, and Wes, all of Washington; two sisters: Mrs. Effie Hazen of Muscatine and Mrs. Edith Daut of Long Beach, Calif., and a number of nieces and nephews.
