Gladys Havel, 73
dies in Lone Tree

RIVERSIDE --- Gladys (Mrs. Mick) Havel, 73, of Senior Village in Riverside. died Friday, June 5, 1987, at Lone Tree Health Care Center in Lone Tree. She had been in failing health in the past three months.

Services were today at 10:30 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Schultz officiating. Burial was in Riverside Public Cemetery.

Gladys Marie Havel was born in Henry county on Dec. 11, 1913, a daughter of Elmer Sammons Sr. and Edna (Messer) Sammons. She was reared and educated in Henry county and married Mick Havel on June 30, 1934, in Mt. Pleasant.

She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband about 7 miles south of Riverside. She also worked for the V.F.W. in Riverside for 14 years.

Survivors include her husband, Mick of Riverside; one son, Terry Havel of Lone Tree; her mother, Edna Sammons of Washington; three granddaughters, one grandson; three sisters, Viola Havel and Ruth Horak, both of Iowa City; and Thelma Schadt of Mt. Pleasant; one brother, Elmer Sammons of Riverside.

She was preceded in death by her father and an infant son, James.
