Parmer E. Babcock Dies This Morning

Parmer E. Babcock, 83, was fatally injured this morning, about 8:45 in a fall at his home, 308 East Jefferson Street. Mr. Babcock had been shingling the roof of his two story house when the ladder slipped and he was dropped onto a paved area near the house. He was taken to Washington County Hospital where he died a short time later.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Sherman-Eden Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lloyd Latta in charge. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Babcock was born April 7, 1879 in Washington County, a son of Lyman B. and Mahala Haigler Babcock. He died Oct. 4, 1962.

He was reared in this county and married at Pilotburg Jan. 14, 1903 to Eunice White.

A retired farmer, he had lived in Washington since 1920. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; one brother, Bert of Washington; several nieces and nephews. One son and his parents preceded him in death.
