Rites Held Wednesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Paul L. Heitzman, 45, of Hills were held at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph’s church at Hills.

Mrs. Heitzman suffered from a heart condition and was stricken Monday evening while attending a Memorial mass for President John F. Kennedy at St. Joseph’s church. Death came a few minutes later after she had been admitted to Mercy Hospital.

Virginia M. Kern was born on July 31, 1918 near Richmond. A daughter of Joseph J. and Celeste Kos Kern, she grew up and was educated in the Richmond community.

On April 16, 1944, at Kissimee, Florida, she was united in marriage to Paul L. Hietzman of Riverside.

They returned to Iowa in 1945 and have lived in Riverside, Iowa City and have made their home in Hills for several years.\

Survivors include the husband and four children at home. They are Margaret, Thomas, Richard and William all at home.

Also survi8ving are her mother and two brothers, William and Robert Kern of Hills; three sisters, Lucille at home, Mrs. Florence Droll of Hills and Mrs. Gloria Phillips of Eagle Grove.

The rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the McGovern-Dwyer Funeral Home in Iowa City.

The burial was in St. Stanislaus cemetery at Hills.

Serving as the casket bearers were Louis Knebel, Martin Dvorak, Stanley Hirt, Elmer Draker and Robert Dolan.
