Grace L. Bauer, 78, dies

Grace. L. Bauer, 78, Washington, died suddenly and unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 14, 1992 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Joan Erbe officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery.

Visitatio0n begins at 9 a.m. Friday with the family receiving friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the Washington County Ambulance.

She was born on June 8, 1914 in Washington county, a daughter of James H. and Ellen Lauderman Thompson. She received her education in Washington County.

On Sept. 4, 1937, she married David Bauer in West Chester. Bauers were administrators of the Washington County Care Facility for 15 years until they retired in 1977.

Mrs. Bauer lived most of her life in Washington County. She was a member opf the West Chester United Methodist Church, a former member of the Pythian Lodge at West Chester and belonged to the Water Wheel painting group in Washington.

She is survived by her husband David Bauer, Washington; one son, William Bauer, Arden Hills, Minn.; two daughters, Julia, Mrs. Daniel Frantz, Durham, Kan., Elizabeth, Mrs. William Morris, Wausau, Wis.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Glen and Clifford, Washington, and Robert of Lincoln, Neb.; and three sisters, Stella Hough, Edith Porter and Flossie Robertson, Washington.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, one brother and two infant brothers.
