MILLS

Albert (Bill) Mills, 55, owner and operator of Mills East End Grocery, suffered a fatal heart attack at his home, 708 East Washington Street, Friday night, September 7, 1962.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Lloyd Latta in charge. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery with the Odd Fellows lodge in charge of graveside rites.

Albert Howard Mills was born Nov. 12, 1906 in Henry County, a son of Jesse Jackson and Sarah Peterson Mills. He was reared and educated in Henry County and married June 23, 1934 in Salem, Iowa to Marion Elizabeth Widdifield.

Mr. Mills came to Washington in 1932 and had lived here since that time. He was employed at Rukgaber’s Hardware for two years and work for Sitler’s Auto Parts for 12 years. Since that time he has owned and operated Mills Market.

He was a member of the Methodist Church; the IOOF, and past Noble Grands.

Survivors include his wife; two sons: Phillip and Meredith, both at home; one daughter, Joy Ann at home; three sisters: Mrs. Sylvia Reeves of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Ronald Hart of Mt Pleasant, and Mrs. P. L. Fenn of Washington; and three brothers: Chester of Mt. Pleasant, Roy of Oskaloosa and Gilbert of Washington.
