Ffuneral[sic] services will be held Thursday; Dec. 15 for Terry McClurg, 57, who died at his Brighton home on Sunday night, Dec. 11, at the Brighton United Church with Rev. Sushil Joseph and Rev. Naomi Lock preceding[sic].

McClurg was born August 21, 1926 in Riubop[sic-Rubio] to Edker and Emma Hill McClurg. He was married to Kathleen (Katie) McClurg on May 24, 1953 in Brighton.

Surviving are his wife, Katie, two aunts, Mettie Walters and Lola Hill, both of Davenport, and one uncle, George Hill, Betndorf[sic-Bettendorf].

He was preceded in death by his parents.

McClurg had attended grade school at Rubio, graduated from Richland High School in 1947 and was a World War II Veteran, having served 2 years in the U.S. Navy.

He was employed at Crane Co. at Washington. He had previously been employed at Roy and Alice Café for 15 years and had also been a painter for eleven years, with Bill Popejoy.

He was a life time member of the V.F.W., Washington, a member of the Board of Directors for Brighton Development Corp., had been a member of the Brighton Community Chamber of commerce. He had served 35 years on the Brighton Volunteer fire Dept., holding offices of Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief and Captain in the department. He was also a member of the Hawkeye State Archeological Society and Writer’s Club of Brighton.

Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery, Packwood. Three Memorial Funds have been established—Brighton Volunteer Fire Dept., Brighton Volunteer First Responders and Rubio Community Building Fund.

Serving as casketbearers were Active—Lee Schooley, Don Dickinson, Dean Edwards, Gerald Pacha, Russ Whitaker and Pat Cooney, Honorary casketbearers were Dean Cooney, Clair Cooney, Howard Long, Leroy Mineart, Ray Mourer, and Joe Jones.
