Juanita Joan Zieglowsky

Juanita Joan (Wallace) Zieglowsky, 78, of Washington, died March 31, 2005, at mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2005, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Washington with Guy Barnham officiating. Interment will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will begin at noon Friday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30, Friday evening. Memorials have been established for child abuse prevention.

Mrs. Zieglowsky was born April 4, 1926, in Washington, to Orin Alvin and Gertrude Bell (Messenger) Wallace. She married Clarence Zieglowsky on April 1, 1945.

Mrs. Zieglowsky attended school n Washington. She and her husband lived their entire married life in Washington, and together they owned and operated Zieglowsky Landscaping & Trucking and The Garden Shop in Washington. She enjoyed the motor home excursions they took together, as well as doing work with her hands, such as needlework, knitting, crocheting and crafts. In the last few years, she spent a lot of time watching birds, especially cardinals. She especially loved to make people laugh with a joke or saying.

Mrs. Zieglowsky was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she was active and enjoyed her many church duties. “Wally” was a Camp Fire Girls leader for many years, and also worked with drug rehabilitation patients in Washington.

Mrs. Zieglowsky is Survived by her husband, Clarence, of Washington; three daughters, Linda Baughman of Denver, Colo., Sierra “Sue” Applegate and husband Larry of Ainsworth, Shirley Brown and husband Don of Washington; two sons, Jim Zieglowsky and wife Deena of Mt. Green, Utah, and Alvin Zieglowsky of Overland Park, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Nelle Brown of Washington; two sisters-in-law, Mary Wallace of Bend, Ore., and Georgie Zieglowsky of Cleveland, Okla.; and brother-in-law Wilbur Zieglowsky of Garden Grove, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Stanley Wallace and Orin Wallace, Jr.; one sister, Evelyn Bruty; and her step-mother, Mamie Wallace
