Mary Donovan, 86, dies Wednesday

Mary Donovan, 86, of 722 East Main Street died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1963, at the Washington County Hospital. Miss Donovan had been in failing health for the past few months.

The funeral will be Saturday at 9 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Jones Funeral Home.

Miss Donovan was born near Ainsworth Oct. 2, 1877, a daughter of John and Margaret Tobin Donovan. She was reared in this county and served as postmaster of the state legislature for three sessions. She also was assistant to the law librarian at the legislature. Following her work in Des Moines she lived in Iowa City until coming to Washington in 1956 to live with her brother, Albert.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

A brother and two sisters preceded her in death. She was the last of her family.
