Mrs. Jessie Dewey dies in Des Moines

DES MOINES (UPI) --- Funeral for Mrs. Jessie Irene Dewey, 77, widow of Federal District Court Judge Charles A. Dewey, were pending here today.

Mrs. Dewey (3007 Grand Ave.) died Monday night at Iowa Methodist Hospital of complications following surgery. Burial will be in Washington, Iowa.

Mrs. Dewey is survived by a son, Almon, Macon, Mo.; and a brother, Glenn L. Laffer, Washington.

A native of Sigourney, Mrs. Dewey was married to Judge Dewey in 1910 in Washington. He retired in 1949 and died in 1958.

Jessie Laffer was born Jan. 7, 1886, a daughter of Henry and Georgeanne Laffer.

The funeral will be at Dunne’s Funeral Home in Des Moines with a short service arranged by Jones Funeral Home in Washington. The time and date of the service had not been set today.
