Tempest Farrier

BRIGHTON - Tempest Farrier, 90, died Sunday, March 6, 1994, at Parkview Care Center in Wayland, where she had lived for four years.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with Mrs. Farrier's son, Dr. Hal Farrier, Ph.D., officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Brighton Volunteer First Responders.

Mrs. Farrier was born Sept. 11, 1903, in Huntington, Ind., the daughter of William and Etta Toole Houston. She was raised near Dale, Ind., and moved to Brighton in 1920. She married Charles Marion Farrier on Oct. 18, 1922, in Washington, Iowa. He died Dec. 27, 1982. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are four sons, Junior of Fairfield, Leo of Scottsdale, Ariz., Lester of Colona, Ill., Hal of Ames; five daughters, Betty Fahy of Scottsdale, Rennie Wakeland of Rock Island, Ill., Wanda Lowe and Kay Pohren, both of Pleasant Plain, Joan Norton of Iowa City; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; a sister Blanche Christner of Hayesville. A son, two grandchildren and a brother preceded her in death.
