MRS. O.E. SCHMITT DIES THIS MORNING

Mrs. O.E. (Effie) Schmitt of 308 West Washington Street died this morning, July 8, 1972 at Sunnyhaven Rest Home here. She had been ill the past eight months.

The funeral will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Sherman-Eden Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Wilcox in charge. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery.

Effie Elizabeth Drenner was born at Brighton March 6, 1883, a daughter of David and Effie Hagans Drenner. She was reared in this county and at Cuba, Ill. and married Jan. 16, 1923 at Libertyville, Mo., to O.E. Schmitt. She had lived here since 1936.

Mrs. Schmitt was a member of the United Methodist church. She was a past matron of the Eastern Star and worthy high priestess of the White Shrine. She had been a member of the WSCS 44 years, was a past president of the Women's Relief Corps and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She also had cooked for various local organizations at the YMCA for a number of years.

Mr. Schmitt died June 26, 1956. Surviving are one sone, Nile of Rio Grande Valley, Calif.; four daughters; Mrs. Ed (Faye) Erskine of Kenosha, Wis., Mrs. Morris (Virgie) Adkisson of Ottumwa, Mrs. Hal (Myrtle) Williams of Washington and Mrs. John (Bessie) Howe of Santa Monica, Calif.; one brother John Drenner and one sister, Mrs. Abe (Essie) Counterman, both of Ottumwa. Also four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Two sons, Raphael and Stacy proceded her in death.
