Jacob I. Helmuth dies in Colorado; rites at Kolona

Kalona - Jacob I. Helmuth, 81, died Monday afternoon, August 20, 1979 in St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo., after a long illness.

The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Fairview conservative Mennonite Church near Kalona, with the pastor John L. Hershberger in charge. Burial will be in North Gingerich Cemetery near Kalona.

Mr. Helmuth was born June 19, 1898 in Johnson County, a son of Isaac and Barbara Yoder Helmuth. He was raised in the Kalona area and moved to Colorado in 1921. For the past five years he has resided at Norton Nursing Home in Colorado Springs.

He was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Colorado Springs.

Surviving are four sisters; Mrs. Dennis J (Ida) Miller, Mrs. Emmet (Annie) Swantz, Mrs. Joe J. (Emma) Hershberger, and Mrs. Jonas (Katy) Gingerich, all of Kalona. Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.
