Howard Wagner, 76, Dies This Morning

Howard Wagner, 76, of 821 East Harrison Street died this morning, March 27, 1959, at the Washington County Hospital. He had been ill for the past two weeks.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Carlyle Smith in charge. Burial will be in Elm Grove, with the Odd Fellows lodge in charge of graveside services.

Mr. Wagner was born Sept. 20, 1882 in Washington County, a son of Knight and Rosie Caldwell Wagner. He was educated in schools of the county and married Nov. 17, 1909 to Dora May Davison.

Following their marriage they lived on a farm in the Eureka neighborhood until moving to Washington in December, 1946.

He was a member of the IOOF lodge.

Survivors include his wife; three sons: Floyd of Rock Island, Ill., John H. and Wayne E. of Washington; three daughters: Mrs. Rodney (Eva) Swailes of Columbus Junction, Mrs. Rolland (Ethel) Armstrong of Moline, Ill., and Mrs. Elwyn (Leona) Gardner of Washington. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters; Mrs. Bessie Stewart of Washington and Mrs. W. R. Davison of Wayland; and two brothers, Fred of Washington and Lester of Wayland. He was preceded in death by one sister.
